Prince Michael Hotel

Miami Beach, FL
Year built: 1951

About 1950 the Mintzer family continued a long series of projects with famed Art Deco architect Roy F. France to design the Prince Michael Hotel at 2618 Collins Avenue which now is within the Collins Avenue Waterfront Historic District.  Roy F. France and his son Roy France Jr. designed dozens of amazing post-war ocean front hotels virtually creating the Miami Beach skyline.  Many of France’s Miami Beach hotels have been demolished but about 20 still remain, between 24th and 44th Streets.  The Prince Michael was named after Bruce’s brother, Michael Mintzer.  It was one of at least 3 hotels that Jack Mintzer built on Collins Avenue, which is the most famous street in Florida for its miles of spectacular hotels. More recently the Prince Michael was converted to condominiums and then back to a hotel.  In 2018 its current owners announced online their plans to invest $30 million in renovations.
